Frida at Home
This is a larger calavera of Frida Kahlo. I imagined this as her sitting in her backyard at the
Casa Azul just enjoying the morning. Hope you like her!

Viva la Vida - a Frida Calavera
This calavera represents Frida Kahlo's art and her life, how they intertwined. Through her artwork she showed the world her pain, her vulnerability and her strength as well. It is titled, "Viva la Vida", the title of Frida's last work of art.

Frida's Heart
Here is my latest work titled, "Frida's Heart". This calavera depicts Frida Kahlo rising from her chair in order to offer her "heart" to someone. This is an all hand-made papier mache calavera, it took about 3 weeks to make the entire scene. She is on her way to the Corazon Gallery at Olvera Street for an art show.

Frida in Bed - a new calavera for 2014
Continuing my papier mache dia de los muertos journey for 2014. Just finished this calavera scene, it's Frida Kahlo in her bed with her body cast and sugar skull. This calavera is modeled after an actual picture of Frida in her home the Casa Azul.

the Soul's Night - new calavera for 2014
It is that time of the year again, what I start to create all kinds of Calavera scenes for the Dia de los Muertos season.
Here is the first of my creations: the Soul's Night.
This scene of a Calavera praying was different for me. I painted the background for the bones a royal deep blue, I usually leave the background white, as in the traditional calavera style, but I have to create the vision I'm given. This scene also contains tears, I've never added tears before and didn't know how in the world I was going to accomplish that, but I figured it out (whew!).
So here is the newest calavera in the Rosie Girl Art collection, hope you like it!
